On 19 February 2021, the Reverend Matthew A. Laferty, representative of the World Methodist Council to the Holy See and director of the Methodist Ecumenical Office Rome, met H.E. Cardinal Miguel Ángel Ayuso Guixot, president of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, to discuss a number of topics related to interreligious dialogue. During their one hour meeting, they discussed the importance of interreligious dialogue to the work of the Catholic Church and the global Methodist communion, how to engage young people in building social friendship and interreligious understanding, and challenges to dialogue.
Rev. Laferty and Cardinal Ayuso also discussed the work of the Vienna-based KAICIID Dialogue Centre. Rev. Laferty is a 2021 KAICIID Fellow and Cardinal Ayuso is a member of KAICIID’s board of directors.
