I had a nice visit to the Sant’Egidio Community headquarters this evening. Founded in 1968 they are a Catholic lay association located in 70 countries and dedicated to prayer, peace, and service with the poor. In 1973 they were granted use of a beautiful former Carmelite monastery and adjoining church in the Trastevere neighborhood in Rome. The Sant’Egidio Community was awarded the World Methodist Peace Prize in 1997 and have historically a close relationship with Methodists.
